A Buy.O Group and PPP Club breakfast: the main areas for improvement of PFI procedures: collecting the cross-industry views of private and public institutions.

It is crucial for companies and public organizations to be efficient in setting up and managing PFI contracts. After several years of existence, we thought it would be interesting to identify the areas for improvement of this procedure by highlighting the cross-industry views of private and public organizations.

On January 20th, 2011, Buy.O Group and the PPP Club organized a workshop breakfast which brought together sales directors, heads of strategy and chief procurement officers from the public sector and large international groups across various industries to discuss the key topic:
"Building and Deploying a PFI Contract: What Are the Main Areas for Improvement of This Procedure? Public and Private Institutions Share Their Cross-Industry Views".
With its friendly, informal atmosphere, this breakfast was an opportunity to share the first key findings from the survey as well as exchange points of view between the public and private sectors.

Marc DEBETS, Buy.O Group Chairman and Marc TEYSSIER d’ORFEUIL, CLUB PPP Director, led the discussion and the open debates.

The breakfast included valuable contributions from key speakers from public institutions focused on PFI trends and best practices:
• Pierre Van de Vyver, from the IGD (Institut de la gestion déléguée)
• François Bergère, Secretary-General of the MAPPP (Mission d'Appui à la réalisation des contrats de Partenariat Public-Privé).

This breakfast was a follow-up to a recent survey conducted by Buy.O Group and the PPP CLUB to gather testimonials and recommendations from public as well as private companies in order to collect their cross-industry views on potential PFI improvements:
- Determining needs
- Conducting competitive dialogue and building a PFI contract
- PFI monitoring and measuring results

As a consulting firm, Buy.O Group provides knowledge and expertise on partnership development between the public and private sectors. The Group helps public organizations build partnerships as well as provides supports to multi-company alliances for developing their commercial offer.
Over the last five years, the PPP CLUB has shared its views on PFI-related challenges with national and local governments and ministries. The CLUB brings together more than fifty companies and institutions for which PFIs represent a vector of growth and economic performance.
